ASUS unveils the ProArt Display PA16USV — a compact 4K monitor crafted specifically for on-set production professionals
ASUS has introduced the ProArt Display PA16USV, a 15.6-inch 4K portable monitor featuring 12G-SDI connectivity, purpose-built for on-set professionals. Pre-calibrated at the factory to achieve Delta E <2 accuracy with full 100% sRGB and Rec.709 coverage, it enables uncompressed 4K@60Hz transmission, making it ideal for directors, DITs, and camera assistants.
The ProArt Display PA16USV’s headline feature is its 12G-SDI input, delivering uncompressed 4K video at 60Hz directly from camera systems with ultra-low latency—making it a highly valuable tool for on-set monitoring. In this category, 12G-SDI connectivity is a rare and notable inclusion.
For broader compatibility, the monitor also offers HDMI 2.0 and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode. A convenient single-cable USB-C solution allows for both video signal transmission and power delivery from supported devices, provided the connected device can supply at least 15W of power output.

Color Accuracy Standards
ASUS has pre-calibrated the PA16USV to deliver a Delta E of less than 2, verified through Calman testing. It achieves full coverage of both the sRGB and Rec.709 color gamuts, ensuring suitability for digital imaging as well as video production workflows.
The monitor offers nine ProArt preset modes: Native, sRGB, Adobe RGB, Rec.709, DCI-P3, DICOM, HDR, and two user-customizable settings. For HDR content, it supports a range of HDR10 curves — including PQ Clip, PQ Optimized, and PQ Basic — giving creators the flexibility to choose the most suitable curve for their project requirements.
Resolution, Size, Peak Brightness, Viewing Angle, and Response Time
The 15.6-inch IPS panel offers 4K UHD resolution (3840 × 2160) with a pixel density of 282 PPI — four times the resolution of a standard Full HD display. It delivers a peak brightness of 400 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1,200:1, while maintaining wide 170° viewing angles both horizontally and vertically. However, its peak brightness may limit outdoor on-set use, making it more suitable for controlled indoor environments.
The panel features a 5ms gray-to-gray response time and a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz. An anti-glare coating helps minimize reflections under various lighting conditions.

With such a quick response time, it remains a viable choice for on-set work despite its brightness limitations.

Weighing just 1.4 kg (3.09 lbs) with its stand, ASUS’s PA16USV is built for easy portability. Dual ambient light sensors on the top and bottom automatically adjust brightness to match surrounding lighting conditions. With VESA 75×75 mm mounting support, it can be easily attached to tripods for flexible on-set setups.
ASUS’s QuickFit Plus feature offers real-time previews with customizable center markers, safety areas, and on-screen rulers. PiP (Picture-in-Picture) and PbP (Picture-by-Picture) modes allow simultaneous viewing of multiple inputs, each with its own independent color engine.
The monitor is also compatible with ASUS DisplayWidget Center software, enabling on-screen setting adjustments via mouse and keyboard instead of physical buttons. A new ColorSync function synchronizes color settings across multiple units of the same model, ideal for multi-monitor post-production workflows.

Target audience for the ASUS PA16USV
The ASUS ProArt Display PA16USV continues the company’s commitment to serving professional creative markets, joining the ProArt lineup that spans from entry-level displays to flagship 8K mini-LED monitors. ASUS is currently offering a promotional bundle that includes a three-month trial of Adobe Creative Cloud with Generative AI tools (valued at up to $488.91) for ProArt Display purchases made before August 31, 2025. The display is priced at $999 and is available now from major retailers such as B&H.
It comes with a three-year warranty covering the LCD panel, the system, and a zero-bright-dot guarantee. The PA16USV is clearly aimed at professionals who value high color accuracy and pro-grade connectivity in a portable format.
For filmmakers and content creators who require dependable on-set monitoring with professional color reproduction, the PA16USV offers a compelling blend of portability, versatile connectivity, and factory-calibrated precision. That said, real-world use will ultimately determine its performance in demanding production scenarios, and we plan to put it to the test here at CineD headquarters.
