Godox has launched the KNOWLED MG6K, a high-power LED light intended for professional film lighting. The company claims that the MG6K delivers light output surpassing 6kW HMI, while drawing 4,300W of power.

Founded in 1993, Godox is a Chinese manufacturer that has been producing photo, video, monitor, and audio solutions. Originally focused on providing budget-friendly studio lighting for photographers, Godox has since broadened its range to include premium solutions for filmmakers, such as the Godox BeamLight Max90 Modifier.

Overall, it appears that competition in the higher-end lighting sector within a similar price range is heating up. Recently, NANLUX launched their Evoke 5000B, and now Godox has introduced its own 4,300W lighting solution.

Godox KNOWLED MG6K

The light head weighs 24.5 kg (54 lbs) without the yoke and 28 kg (61 lbs) with the yoke. It offers color temperature adjustments ranging from 2800K to 10,000K and green/magenta adjustments of ±100%.

When paired with the MGR30 reflector, the MG6K delivers 41,000 Lux at 5600K from a five-meter distance. Using the MGR15 reflector, it provides 132,000 Lux under the same conditions.

The MG6K is equipped with an air-cooling system that enhances heat dissipation during prolonged use at high power settings.

The entire MG6K system weighs around 41 kg in total, with the controller weighing 13 kg and the head with the yoke at 28 kg. This design facilitates easy handling by a single person during setup and transportation.

The light offers 0.1% precision dimming and supports various control interfaces, including DMX, CRMX, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and the KNOWLED App. Additionally, it features IP54 weather protection and flicker-free operation.

Godox focused on designing this fixture to be as lightweight as possible, ensuring that it can be easily used by a single person. Additionally, it was engineered to seamlessly integrate with HMI lights.

The MG6K is compatible with Godox’s G-mount accessory system, which includes:

• MGR15 reflector for improved optical efficiency and long-distance lighting
• MGR30 reflector for consistent light with sharp shadows
• BeamLight Max 60/90 for 5° narrow-angle parallel beam effects
• 7-foot lantern softbox for broad, soft lighting
• ZB03 motorized three-light bracket for remote angle adjustments, compatible with the MG2400 series
